TROJANS CHEER INFORMATION

Welcome to Whittier Trojans Cheer!

2021 Cheer registration is now open! Registration will be $200 plus the $200 Uniform Package with NO MANDATORY LEAGUE FUNDRAISING. (Team fundraising will still be necessary.) This season we will only be accepting payments in-person. Please sign up early to ensure a position for your participant. Participants are not officially registered until full payment is received. If you are opting for a payment plan, the registration is not considered complete until the final payment is applied, but your initial payment secures your placement for the appropriate team based on age.

Mandatory Volunteer Snack Shack or Field Duty is required throughout the season. Whittier Trojans require 4 volunteer hours per participant. A check or money order in the amount of $80 must be turned in to our league treasurer prior to the participant receiving their uniform. Upon the completion of your participants mandatory volunteer hours, your check or money order will be returned. If the mandatory volunteer hours are not met upon the completion of the season, then the check will be cashed.

Please keep in mind that participants must live in Whittier or in a surrounding city that does not have a Pop Warner program available to them. If you live in a city that has Pop Warner, you must first attempt to sign up in your city. If your city does not have a team available to you, you may then ask for a waiver to come and play for the Whittier Trojans. However, if you have received a past-approved waiver from the same city for two or more years, you are exempt from this process and considered a grandfathered participant of Whittier Trojan Pop Warner.

The Trojan cheerleaders will have fun cheering for the football teams, and competing in cheer competitions for the upcoming season.

This is a great opportunity for cheerleaders of all ages to learn teamwork, all while improving their stunts, cheers and tumbling skills in a fun setting.

Participating in our Whittier Trojans Cheer Program provides youth the opportunity to perform in an organized, supervised, safety-oriented environment. Trojan Cheer programs emphasize fun for all and encourages the development of qualities important long after Pop Warner days are gone.

POP WARNER CHEER OVERVIEW

Pop Warner Spirit teams have participated for several decades on the football sidelines (Pep Squads, Majorettes, etc.); however, cheerleading was not officially introduced until the 1970’s.

Today, thousands of youth participate in Pop Warner Cheerleading and Dance teams around the United States.

The Cheer and Dance Program offers teams a wide range of opportunity for young athletes at all skill levels: Novice, Intermediate and Advanced.

Pop Warner has established one set of spirit rules along with JAMZ, the Pop Warner Education Development Partner and the original developer of the Youth Cheer and Dance Alliance (YCADA).

Together with YCADA, Pop Warner is able to provide online educational courses for its coaches, administrators and judges on team skill levels for Cheer Teams (PW 1, 2, 3 & 4) and for Dance Teams (Pom Performance, Theme Dance and Hip Hop).

With continued education, the Pop Warner Coaching Staff provides basic instruction, training and conditioning for both football games and competition.

Teams participate on the sidelines at football games for home and most away games through to the Pop Warner Super Bowl. In addition to Game Day, teams participate in qualifying spirit events (League and Region) through to a Pop Warner National Championship.

The Pop Warner National Cheer and Dance Championships (started in 1988) are now held in December located in ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Kissimmee, Florida. The 2017 Pop Warner National Cheer & Dance Championships will take place from Monday, December 2 - 8, 2017.
